Education is of paramount importance to your young child, and Hong Kong delivers a diverse selection of Early Years options from nursery to primary school.

Even within renowned preschools and kindergartens, there is plenty of different education approaches you can choose from Montessori, Reggio Emilia, Forest School, IB School Curriculum, and more. There’s no right answer, so do your own research on these proven methods and choose one that you believe would most benefit your child.

A common practice among Hong Kong working parents is to hire a full-time domestic helper to take care of the kids (having someone to help out with daily chores is a huge boon as well). But as the role of early social interactions in children’s development becomes more acknowledged, more private playgroups have emerged in the city in recent years. Parents can entrust their children to qualified babysitter-cum-teachers for the afternoon, and the kids can spend time socialising with other toddlers in an educational environment.

In view of its ageing workforce, the Hong Kong government is keen to update its curriculum to nurture high quality talent. STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) is prioritised across primary and secondary education and gives children the chance to explore different aspects of science and art and prepares them for more specialised fields of study in innovation and technology in the future.
